Public nurseries take care of children usually between 06.00 and 17.00 on working days (Monday-Friday), following normal working hours of the parents. Children are given meals four times a day, breakfast and lunch and snack between them and before leaving. Proper amount of fluids are provided (tap water and milk). Public nurseries are open year round, closed only for National Holidays, a short time over Christmas/New Years and for a mandatory 2 week cleaning/renovating break in the summer. Hours at
Children are normally not required to be toiled trained when entering the nursery. Teachers are trained to change diapers and most of the nurseries train children for toilets.
Each nursery might have its different rules and regulations, so please discuss them with the director upon application. To register your child at a nursery, you need to get in touch with the nursery itself.
We advise bringing a translator even if some of the staff speak English to avoid missunderstandings. Enrollment is possible all year, as long as there is space available.
