Market square to be renovated starting September 2018

Pápa town won 500 000 000 HUF for the renovation of the market area. During the renovations, the market will be held on the Main Square.

There has been a change in ownership of the Pápa market, they are now offering the sale spots based on daily reservations. The biggest change is that they are cancelling the used goods market on Saturdays, and local farmers will be able to sell their fruits, vegetables and flowers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays.

The renovation will be one of a large scale, the whole area will be renewed along with the market area and the parking lot next to it. They will be ready with the plans by 1st of August, and tearing down the current buildings will start on the 1st of September. Construction is planned to start on the 1st of November, and it has to be done by the 31st of May of 2019. The vice-Mayor of Pápa stated that they plan to create a space which could function as Pápa’s second main square.
