There are two cable internet providers working in Pápa at the moment.

Pay attention on the range of service when selecting a cable internet provider, make sure your selected option is available where you live. Particularly in new construction areas not all providers will be available or you may have to pay out of pocket for lines to be extended to you house.

In order to have an internet subscription, you have to visit the service provider’s office in Pápa and have a contract signed. After that the company is going to set an appointment with you when cable works can be done in your home. You will normally be provided with all the technical equipment you need for operational cable internet access, however you might need to set your own router up for WiFi connection.[/tab]You can contract for a landline phone in your home with the companies providing Internet in Pápa. There are four mobile phone network providers in Hungary.
All providers have offices in Pápa. You can subscribe for Tesco Mobile in the local Tesco. You should check for different plans according to your own needs and preferences. You can get discounted monthly plans or prepaid plans for all providers. To sign up for a monthly plan you must have a registered address in Hungary. When you move to Pápa you may be required to use a pre-paid plan until you have moved to your new house. You will be able to keep the balance and phone number once you switch to a monthly plan.
T-Mobile offers special plans for HAW/NAMP members and for Boeing members that allow for free calling within each group. Contact you countries/organizations support staff to get the require documentation to sign up for these plans.
Several other companies offer pre-paid plan only such as Bluemobile from Lidl.
There are several options when choosing television service around Pápa.
The only IPTV service in Pápa is provided by Invitel. In order for IPTV to work flawlessly, high internet bandwidth is essential, therefore, if you wish to opt for IPTV check whether it is going to be available and enjoyable in your area.

Slingbox: A device that encodes local video for transmission over the Internet to a remote device. It allows users to remotely view and control cable or satellite in their home country from a remote Internet-connected PC, TV , smartphone or tablet as if he or she were in their home location. You must have a TV service paid and set-up in your home location, for example at a friends or families home.
There are several satellite TV service providers in Hungary. Hungarian providers come with a selection of Hungarian and neighboring country channels in German, Czeck, Slovak etc. Several News and Sports channels will be in English and many Hungarian channels showing mostly foreign shows and movies have the option to show the shows/movies in their original language.
Currently the satellite company with the most English language channels or shows is UPCdirect.
If you move to Hungary from within a certain range, you can bring your own satellite dish and set top box registered in your home country to be able to watch your home TV channels. To be able to do this the satellite must be ‘visible’ from Hungary, which is the case for most European TV satellites.
